I am committed to
- Attending School on every School day, and to punctually attend every one of my tutor meetings, lessons, supervised study periods, lecture periods, assemblies and timetabled enrichment activities.
- Wearing my Sixth Form ID card and lanyard at all times, and ensuring I sign in and out of school using the provided School system so that accurate fire safety and attendance records can be maintained.
- Ensuring that I regularly check the MILK system for messages and homework.
- Maintaining 100% attendance with no unauthorised absences. I understand that I must complete, and have authorised, a Sixth Form Proposed Absence Form for planned absences.
- Following the Sixth Form Dress Code, the details of which are on the School website.
- Completing my class work, homework and coursework assignments on time and to the best of my ability. I understand that at A-Level, a substantial amount of effort is required to make progress and to keep up with the work set. I am committed to my studies and understand that, typically, an additional 15 hours’ study outside of School, per week, is recommended.
- I understand that I will be expected to use some of my non-contact periods during the School day for private or collaborative study, and that it is my responsibility to ensure that this time is used productively.
- Following the School rules on conduct, behaviour and ICT use.
- Keeping the School free from litter and respecting personal and community property.
- Making proper use of those facilities within the School that are provided for the use of Sixth Form students.
- Showing respect for other members of the School community and for visitors.
- Being willing to play an active part in the extra-curricular life of the School.
- Having a determination to make the best possible academic progress that I can.
- Being a positive role model for younger students.
- Developing skills and habits of independent learning.
- Responding positively to advice given to me by members of staff.
Explanatory Notes
Attendance
- Students are required to attend School daily. Where a student is unwell, you should telephone the Sixth Form team (01778 422288 ext. 217) or e-mail [email protected] on the first day of absence; students must also provide a note, signed by a parent or guardian, immediately upon their return to School.
- In line with School Attendance Legislation, the Headteacher may not grant any leave of absence for holidays during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances (details can be found on the School website). Applications for other planned absence should be made via the Sixth Form Student Manager. Students and parents should be aware that the School keeps detailed attendance records and will refer to these if it is asked to provide a reference to UCAS or to an employer. The School will also comment, honestly, on punctuality, as requested. Those with unacceptable records will be required to serve appropriate sanctions.
Completing Homework Assignments Punctually
- A student who misses a deadline without presenting, in advance, to the relevant subject teacher a satisfactory letter of explanation will be issued with a Green Card. In order to support the student, he/she will be required, for a subsequent period, to spend his/her non-contact periods in the upstairs of the Sixth Form Centre completing private study under the supervision of a member of staff.
Use of ICT
- The ICT Code of Conduct is clear, reasonable and available on the School website. Students who wish to utilise their own computer equipment within School on the student BYOD network are free to do in accordance with the School’s Student BYOD policy, also available on the School website. The Network Manager, Mr Barker, can provide additional information if required.
