What is Academic Support?
- Academic departments meet regularly to discuss progress and to share strategies for supporting students through difficult topics or concepts. You may be identified by your teacher as requiring additional academic support - this is not a punishment but is extra support, when and where needed, and might only be a short-term boost. The following steps will happen if you are on Academic Support:
- Your Subject Teacher will set appropriate targets on a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) which will be MILK messaged to you shortly, and they will arrange a fortnightly meeting with you to discuss your progress.
- A letter will automatically be sent home to inform your parents that this support is being put in place, and your Form Tutor and Subject Leader will also be informed.
- Once your Subject Teacher is content with the progress you have made, you will be taken off Academic Support. You can then move forward with confidence, knowing that your weaker areas have been addressed and developed before the Summer examinations.
